“My first experience with Dignity in the Golden Years was when I needed part-time home care for my husband, who had multiple strokes and was no longer able to shower himself, dress and was incontinent. My husband was angry that he could he no longer care for himself, and started to show signs of frustrating behaviors and slight memory loss.
As his condition progressed, Dignity helped me figure out the best solution for him to age in place. They found me a full-time caregiver. I was impressed with the level of care their compassionate caregivers provided.
As the disease eventually worsened, I was afraid that I would have to figure out how to manage all alone in what to do for my husband. I was so relieved when Dignity in the Golden Years continued with his care management. They helped me find facilities that financially suited our budget. After looking at several facilities with Aileen, a Dignity Care Consultant, I understood how to make the decision of placing my husband in the right long term care facility that I could afford.
Aileen remained active in his care, and as my husband’s physical condition began to deteriorate from the progression of his disease, I was confident that I made the right choice in the facility.
Aileen continued to support me by suggesting a hospice program at just the appropriate moment. I didn’t know what Hospice was all about at the time, but they assured me it was the best thing to do for him. After talking with them about my options, I wasn't afraid, and knew that it was the right time.
When my husband eventually died, I felt I was never alone during the entire process of his illness. I always had the help I needed, when I needed it. I am truly grateful that Aileen helped me throughout this journey I couldn't have done it without her.”
